We first dry the tooth and prepare the surface with a special acidic gel, creating a rough surface for the composite to properly bond to.

We match the composite material to the natural shade of your tooth, or a new shade if you’re after a whiter smile. We then apply it in layers, gradually building up the desired shape.

When we are happy with the appearance of your tooth, we harden the resin in its final shape using a blue UV light. We then professionally polish the tooth, leaving it looking natural and feeling smooth and fresh.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can composite bonding be used on more than one tooth?

Yes, composite bonding can be used to repair a single tooth or used on multiple teeth to transform the appearance of your smile. At your first appointment, we discuss with you what your goals are from your composite bonding treatment.

Is composite bonding treatment painful?

Composite bonding is completely pain free, which is part of the reason why it is so popular with many patients looking for an effective and cosmetic repair. None of your natural tooth structure or enamel needs to be removed to make way for the treatment so you will feel no pain or discomfort.

Can composite bonding be reversed?

Yes, composite bonding is completely reversible. If you change your mind over time and no longer want the composite bonding material on your tooth, it can simply be removed. There are no lasting effects on your natural teeth and they will return to the way they were before treatment.

How do I look after my tooth following composite bonding treatment?

Composite is invulnerable to bacteria and decay, but the natural tooth underneath isn’t. Great oral hygiene at home will keep your tooth lasting for as long as possible. You may require maintenance on these restorations, particularly if you like to drink tea or coffee or enjoy other food and drinks that stain your teeth. This can easily be monitored at your regular check-ups.
